Incorrect. O’ means “grandson of” while Mac or Mc means “son of”. They’re both common in Ireland. Scot’s Gaelic is derived from Irish so their naming structure is the same although they don’t tend to use O’ anymore.
Basically you’re right about the O’ part but Mc could signify Irish or Scottish descent. Mac is the more common form in Scotland.
