What are the penalties of getting arrested with a fake ID in NJ? What are the ways to get out of it?

My friend got arrested for using a fake ID at a liquor store. What are the possible consequences? Does it show up on your permanent record? What are the possible fines? Should he hire a lawyer? Is there anyway to get out of it?

It depends on what he is finally charged with and his history, the penalties can range from a fine up to $ 500 and court costs, community service and loss of driving Privilege in the worst case scenario. If he has a clean record, its likely he’ll be able to plead down to a lesser charge, Given that the police have the fake ID in question as evidence? No, he’s not getting out of it.

Should have knocked the clerk on the head and ran out with his fake. He deserved getting arrested for being a wennie!
